Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Paramedic

What They Do:

An EMT cares for patients at the scent of an accident and while taking patients by ambulance to a hospital. An EMT has the skills to assess a patient’s condition and to manage respiratory, cardiac, and trauma injuries.

Where They Work:

EMT’s can be found working in many settings. Most commonly “on-call” in an ambulance, EMT’s are also needed and utilized for special events such as sporting events or other types of large community events.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • EMT/Paramedic Certificate: 2 years
